Current UMaine students: Applying is a two-step process. First, submit a UMaine Student Electronic Application Form. Second, send a current resume with a cover letter in electronic (preferably PDF) format to: microscholar@eece.maine.edu. The cover letter should address: 1) how you became interested in the microelectronics and semiconductor industry, 2) what course work and experience you have related to the microelectroics and semiconductor industry, and 3) how you see yourself participating in that industry in the future. All material must be received no later than 25 February 2008. After an initial evaluation of your application, you may be asked to attend an interview. If you have previously received a microelectronics scholarship, this interview step may be waived.

First Year students: (current high school seniors) First, you must submit a First Year Student Electronic Application Form by 25 February 2008. After an initial evaluation of your application, you may be notified via email to submit additional materials and attend an interview. The additional materials may include a transcript of your grades, a photocopy of your CEEB SAT results (if you have not sent them to our Admissions Office already), two letters of recommendation (one academic; one community), and a letter to the Committee describing 1) how you became interested in the microelectronics and semiconductor industry, and 2) how you see yourself participating in that industry in the future. First-year scholarship recipients usually come from the top 10% of their class, have a combined SAT score of 1200 or more, have excellent communications skills, and are active participants in extracurricular activities.
